The Department of Insurance has approved an 8 percent rate increase for all BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina under 65 grandfathered and non-grandfathered (Interim and Trust) plans. We will mail letters to members and group administrators, on list bill, this week. Rate increases are effective Feb. 1, 2022.
 
We’ve outlined coverage options for these members below.

Grandfathered Members

Plans with effective dates on or before March 23, 2010, can:

• Keep their plan as long as they want
• Shop for an Individual and Family plan with a Special Enrollment Period

Please ensure your clients have full knowledge that significant benefit changes could cause them to lose their grandfathered status.

Non-Grandfathered Members

Plans with effective dates between March 24, 2010, and Dec. 15, 2013, can:

• Keep their current plan until Dec. 31, 2022
• Shop for an individual and family plan with a Special Enrollment Period
