BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina will also send renewal reminders via email and text to members on the following dates*:

  • Oct. 24
  • Nov. 1
  • Nov. 7
  • Nov. 14
  • Nov. 26
  • Dec. 3
  • Dec. 11

*Dates subject to change.

These communications will:

  1. Encourage members to review their plans and actively reenroll.
  2. Direct members to contact their agent in the call to action.
  3. Include a disclaimer telling members to ignore the message if they have already renewed.
    • Note: Members who have actively renewed will fall off our report and will not receive future communications. However, due to timing of when reports are run, there may be a small number of members who renew and still receive a communication.

Enhanced Direct Enrollment (EDE) and BASES Renewal Management

You can easily renew your members using the EDE platform. Your book of business can be found on EDE. You can send mass emails with a custom renewal hyperlink to each of your clients.

You can also use BASES to see which of your clients have made changes to their plan and renewed for 2025. Additionally, the new 2025 ACA Individual Renewal file is available to help recommend alternate plans to your existing clients.

The 2025 Enrollment Indicator column will display one of the following indicators:

  • “P” indicator means the renewal is currently passive. Any passive enrollment will automatically renew as is for 2025 with payment of the January premium.
  • “A” indicator means the member has made changes or actively renewed their coverage effective Jan. 1, 2025. New BlueCross members will also have this indicator.
  • Blank/no indicator means we have not yet received a passive renewal from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. This only applies to FFM members.

Please note: Due to the volume of submissions during open enrollment, updates to BASES could be delayed three to five business days.

Passive Renewals

If members do not want to make any changes to their current plan or are not receiving financial assistance, all they need to do is pay their January premiums as billed.

Making the January 2025 payment will automatically renew the plan. Members will receive their January bills the week of Dec. 19.

Members who are setup on bank draft will have their 2025 premium drafted on Jan. 1, 2025.

Please contact your sales representative if you have questions or need more information.
