We are excited to inform you that BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is transitioning to a new SMS text message platform to improve and enhance our communication with members! With this new platform, members will have faster access to information directly in the SMS, without needing to log in or click a link. 
 
The switch to the new platform will begin this month for Group and Individual (G&I) members. As we transition away from the current SMS text message platform, G&I members may continue to receive automated messages, including explanation of benefits and prior authorization messages, from the current platform until Nov. 15. 

Between now and Nov. 15, members may receive messages from the following numbers: 

• 50109 - New SMS text message platform #
• 21643 - Current SMS text message platform #

If a member receives a text message from one of these numbers, it is from BlueCross and is a legitimate message.

Members that have opted in to receive text messages will receive a welcome text from the new platform week later this week.
